The Society of X-Ray Technology

A Brief History
The Institute of X-ray Engineers was founded by 30 X-ray engineers in 1944.
It became The Society of X-Ray Technology
(Soc X-Ray T) when it was incorporated as a Limited Company in 1954.
As a learned body it encouraged x-ray engineers to attend talks and lectures organised at both branch and national level.
The Journal of X-ray Technology was published four times a year and contained articles written by members and guest writers.
Due to changes in engineers registration during the early 1990’s it was found necessary to amalgamate with a larger body.
It was decided that the Society would join with the Institute of Hospital Engineers (IHE) in the mid 1990’s.
The IHE has since changed its name to The Institute of Hospital Engineering and Estate Management. (IHEEM).
